Using Artificial Intelligence Ethically for Research Online
While large language models have been used to support research for decades, the recent proliferation of advanced generative AI models has had a profound impact on the industry, leading to the development of a number of useful tools to leverage this technology. In addition to chatbots like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, many research-specific tools have also been developed to assist researchers with using artificial intelligence ethically for a variety of tasks. This workshop will highlight a few of these tools, how they work, and how to properly evaluate whether an AI research tool is appropriate for use, with particular attention to ethical considerations when using AI for research. A framework on achieving AI literacy will also be shared to help you critically evaluate any artificial intelligence tool.
