Lunch & Learn - The Secrets of Effective Collaboration (IN-PERSON - COLE HALL 340)

Lunch & Learn - The Secrets of Effective Collaboration (IN-PERSON - COLE HALL 340)

Collaboration has become complex, since teams are more dispersed, diverse, digital and dynamic. Modern teams of today are struggling with “us vs. them” thinking making it that much more essential to rely heavily on a core set of fundamentals to effectively collaborate with one another.

Join us for our first Lunch & Learn of 2025 to discuss the basics of team effectiveness identified by J. Richard Hackman, a pioneer in the field of organizational behavior.  Over the course of 40 years, Hackman discovered that what matters the most as we strive toward effective collaboration is not behavioral styles, personalities or attitudes of members of our team.  Hackman’s research indicates that teams need these four “enabling conditions” to thrive:

  1. Compelling direction
  2. Strong structure
  3. Supportive context
  4. Shared mindset
