Supporting Your Students with More Accessible Content Online

This workshop will walk you through how to use two tools within Canvas to help make digital course materials more accessible to your students. The first is the built-in Canvas Accessibility Checker which detects common accessibility errors within the editor. The second tool is Ally, an automated accessibility checker enabled in all courses that scans uploaded files (documents and images) and assigns an “accessibility score” and suggested fixes. Ally is also capable of generating alternative accessible formats of your files for you and your students. We will also share recommended practices for video, live conferences and assignment accommodations in Canvas.
